What is Handmade with Heart about?

Please join us in making a difference in the lives of others! We will be donating new, handmade clothing to benefit victims of abuse. The clothing will go to a local shelter whose mission is to break the cycle of violence against women and their children by providing a safe place to stay and support services such as counseling, education and referrals to community resources.

Pajamas!

Our cause has pajamas/sweats listed as one of the most needed items, so here are some free resources to get you started.

How to make a pajama pattern - granted, there is a little work involved, but since we are asking for all sizes, you could use the pattern already shown.

How to sew your own pajama pants - another great resource

Perfect fitting pajama bottoms - again, since they won't have to fit your size necessarily, they will be a little bit easier!

Free Knit & Crochet Patterns

Here are some links to patterns for knitting or crocheting slippers, mittens, and hats! I tried to include a lot of beginner/easy/quick pieces, which would be ideal for using to create a lot of nice goodies to donate.

Crocheted Mary Jane slippers - these are adorable! (I'm going to have to get someone who crochets to make them for me.)

Woolly Wormhead Patterns - I recently finished knitting the "Meret." Don't let it's beauty fool you--it was a quick and easy knit

Easy Norwegian House Slippers - These are knit and then fulled/felted. Very interesting construction and definitely something I want to try someday.

That is all I have for now--I actually have more slipper patterns that I thought I would! I'll be back with more soon, including sewing patterns for pajamas, shirts and kids' clothes.
